A first-floor storage area located in the East Wing of the Australian War Memorial has been transformed into a functional, visitor-friendly space, seamlessly combining the The Memorial’s operational needs with a polished public facing area.
The project involved removing the existing wall and constructing a new full-height installation, complete with plywood backing to support future artwork, digital screens, and display elements. Behind the wall, the storage area was expanded to accommodate essential equipment, including CVE and AV LPC systems, while concealing building services from view.
Delivered within a live environment, the works were carefully staged to ensure surrounding galleries, exhibits, and feature pieces remained protected at all times. Temporary hoarding and dust-mitigation measures allowed the project to progress safely without disrupting the visitor experience.
The completed works successfully conceal building services from public view and deliver a seamless, considered outcome aligned with the Australian War Memorial’s functional requirements and architectural intent.
