COMPLETION DATE

Set along the shoreline of Lake Burley Griffin, two bespoke Floating Saunas have been constructed and are now open for visitors. Originally established in Tasmania, the Floating Sauna experience has now been brought to Canberra’s own Lake Burley Griffin.

MBS FM delivered the full fabrication and installation of the saunas, creating a space designed for tranquil lakefront views year-round. The saunas sit on a purpose-built pontoon that also accommodates supporting amenities, including a welcoming entry area, change rooms, an outdoor wash-down shower, and an oversized ladder to ensure safe access in and out of the lake.

Each sauna features expansive 2m×2m windows framing uninterrupted water views, premium cedar finishes, and efficient wood-fired furnaces. A 14-metre walkway connects the shoreline to the pontoon, providing safe and seamless access for users. The 10.2m×7.2m pontoon was fabricated in two sections and assembled on site, with piles installed to ensure stability and limit movement. The result is a secure, refined, and carefully constructed on-water experience that showcases thoughtful design and high-quality workmanship.

A seamless integration of design, structure, and setting, the floating saunas provide a calm and inviting lakeside experience.
