INTEGRATED WEED MANAGEMENT
MBS FM delivers integrated aquatic weed control solutions, combining mechanical harvesting with targeted herbicide spraying. Our team is licensed and approved to conduct weed management in and around waterways in accordance with the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA).
Our modern equipment and expert team enable safe, effective, and environmentally responsible waterway maintenance across a range of environments.
-
Utilising specialised machinery to efficiently remove floating, submerged and emergent weeds from waterways. Helping restore natural water flow, improve balance and maintain the visual and functional quality of aquatic environments.
-
Efficient removal of silt and sediment through mechanical or hydraulic dredging, with environmentally responsible disposal and full site restoration. Suitable for wetlands, lakes, rivers, and stormwater systems.
-
Effective collection and removal of debris, litter, and organic waste from waterways to maintain clean, safe, and visually appealing environments. Ideal for urban lakes, rivers, stormwater channels, and wetlands.
-
Our licensed team specialises in the precise application of aquatic-approved herbicides across a range of environments, including wetlands, rivers, lakes, wastewater, and mining catchments, irrigation systems, and more.
Our aquatic treatment services are designed to address a range of water management challenges, including:
Algae control
Targeted herbicide application
Water quality enhancement
Water sensitive urban design
Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) integrates urban planning with water cycle management, using assets such as rain gardens, bio-filters, swales, wetlands, and permeable pavements to treat stormwater and enhance liveability. These systems require regular inspection and maintenance to function effectively, prevent blockages, and avoid environmental degradation.
Our maintenance methodology is built on compliance, precision, and transparency. Drawing from our extensive experience in facilities and grounds maintenance, we apply the same rigour to WSUD assets:
Scheduled Inspections: Fortnightly checks during high-flow seasons (October–March) and monthly during cooler months (April–September), as outlined in internal scope documents.
Sediment and Litter Control: Removal of debris, dead plant material, and sediment from embankments and SQID systems, especially following rainfall events exceeding 10mm.
Environmental Protection: No herbicide use within 3 metres of water bodies, and strict adherence to ACT Government environmental protocols.
Documentation and Reporting: Photo documentation before and after each maintenance cycle, submitted within 3 days to the authorised client representative.
As urban environments increasingly adopt sustainable water management practices, the upkeep of these systems is critical, not only for environmental compliance but also for ensuring long-term performance and community benefit.
